Come and learn about one of the latest ways to use technology with students. A wiki is a collaborative, easy-to-use web page that many people can edit. You don’t need to learn any complicated software: it’s easy! Students can post their own work to share with family members and others on the web. It’s a great place to post class news, podcasts, conference schedules, links, photos and more. It’s an outstanding resource for home-school communication, and an exciting way to connect with others around the world. We’ll tour a very active third grade wiki, and then you’ll have time to begin to create your own wiki. Energize your new class and yourself with this great resource!

This video gives a good explanation of how wikis work.

Wikis offer many possibilities for education. The following video shows how some teachers have used wikis in their classrooms.

Click here to visit our first class wiki. This started out as a basic framework, and grew through the year. Our third-grade students posted most of their own work.
Click here to see our second class wiki. You'll see that we moved more information to the SideBar from the Front Page.

You will have time to begin to create your own wiki during the session. If you have a copy of your class list for next year, you might want to bring it. You can create accounts and pages for each student to get a head start on September. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at:
